Windows XP SP 1

I have WIndows XP Home edition installed on my computer. IS the SP 1 patch stable and really necessary. There is another patch for universal plug/play, does this patch needed to be installed before or after SP 1.

    Thanks

Not sure what you are referring to here - there is no SP1 for Windows XP yet and there likely won't be for a good while. So when you ask if it's stable, what exactly are you referring to? There is a service release for Office XP, which seems to be OK so far (no problems here anyway) - but for XP there are only updates of various flavors and sizes.

The UPnP patch needs to be installed right away, as it's a glaring security hole. Your best bet is to visit Windows Update and download what you need - anything that is critical will be automatically selected in the XP version of WinUpdate.
