    Win 10 start menu

When I press Win Key I get a box saying "critical error Start menu is not working." Box also Windows would try to repair and wants me to restart computer, but that hasn't helped. I also noticed that taskbar is not autohiding even though box is checked.

I no longer have Win 10 but because of the frequency of people reporting this error, I decided to save this article in that it may help those finding themselves in this position and hope it helps you.

Someone on another forum with the same/similar problem has found they don't always work and the problem has been found to be caused by Drop Box or some other program that has rewritten the shell - finding which though, may be a problem.

I tried uninstalling Drop Box, but that didn't solve the problem. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Did any of the methods in the article help ?

If you are able to access your restore points and you have any, you could give those a try back to when the Start menu worked.

I ran the first two options. I don't get the window that says critical error anymore, but I can't get start menu to run.
I went to restore under settings in PC explorer, but that would delete many of my programs.
