    "Desktop" nowhere to be found

I'm setting up a brand new W10 Home desktop for my daughter; a Dell XPS8900. Knowing how she's been using Windows 7 for so long, I want to make it easy on her, so I installed Classic Shell. However, the other part of familiarity, the Desktop, is nowhere to be found. The only option is the Start Screen with the square tiles. A few notes:

No "Show Desktop" in the lower right corner; I get a calendar.
Under Personalization > Themes > "Desktop Icon Settings", it shows icons checked, but there is no Desktop to see them.
As it's stuck on the Start Screen, right clicking on the screen does nothing; nothing happens.
I've gone over every setting and option in both Settings and Control Panel ump-teen times. Nothing has brought back the Desktop.

I also have had a Dell Latitude running Windows 10 since last Sept. Originally it was a Windows 7, then 8, 8.1, now upgraded to 10. It starts up to the Desktop, with all my icons. It is running the exact same Windows 10 version and build 1511-10586.218, and every setting and check I can find are the same between the two computers. Maybe some of the Windows 8.1 options or capabilities have carried over onto Windows 10?
I have been working on this for 2 days and it's driving me nuts. Have I missed something? Can we have a Windows 10 "Desktop" to work with or is it not possible anymore?

You may have Tablet Mode enabled. Settings>System>Tablet Mode or just type Tablet Mode in the search box.

That IS what I was missing! I don't know how it was "On", but I never thought to look at that. Obviously.

You're welcome. Thanks for posting back. Windows 10's split personality can be confusing.
