Can't access inbox when new message window open

    Hi,

I am unfortunate enough to have to use Outlook at the office (the whole thing is a disgrace IMO...).

When I am writing a new e-mail with the new mail window open and I want to check something in my inbox, I can't. I have to save the new mail as a draft before I can go back to the inbox.

Is there any way round this?

    Thanks

I am able to create a new email and type something in the body of the email, then click on my inbox to open it. I have no problem with this.

I am running Outlook 2010. Which version are you running?

You said it is at the office. Perhaps there is a tech support person there who could assist? If so, he would be most familiar with the way things are set up, and he might be able to easily fix it.

One option might be Outlook Web App, if your office provides it. That would give you a different look on things, and it may work better for you than Outlook.

    Good luck.

I'm running Office2016 on W64 through Microsoft Exchange.

After further trails, the problem only occurs if I right-click on a file and select "send to". Outlook then locks the new message window and I can't get out of it.

The same thing happens to me if I right-click on a file and select "send to".

I never do that, so that's why I didn't see what you were seeing. Instead, I open a new email from within Outlook, and then attach whatever it is that I want to send. That could be a workaround for you until you find a fix for this issue.

I'm running Outlook 2016 and don't have any issues like you have described.

When you can't get out of the new message are you able to press the alt and tab keys at the same time and go back to the inbox that way?

I think that's the only way round it. Wish I could junk Outlook altogether...

I'm not sure, how much it will help for you.
