    100% New Build - 2nd SSD not recognized

    Howdy all. Just did a brand new Skylake build yesterday. Here's the specs:
    Phantecs Enthoo case;
    Gigabyte z170 Gaming 7 rev 1;
    Intel I7 6700K;
    32gb of GSkill RipjawsV at 3000;
    Samsung 512gb 950 Pro nvme SSD for boot drive;
    Win 10 Pro 64bit;
    MSI Geforce 970 100ME w/4gb;
    EVGA Supernova G2 850 80 plus Gold;
    2 Asus cd/dvd optical drives;
    And last, but not least - and the problem child - a 1tb Mushkin Reactor Sata III SSD for storage.

    The Mushkin is not recognized by the BIOS, or by Win 10. I've flashed the BIOS to F7 (from F6). Checked all the SATA settings - all are enabled and set to AHCI. No problems booting or anything else. No funky behavior with anything. This thing screams, even though I have a lot of work ahead of me for tweaking! Can anyone suggest anything at all - this is driving me nutso!?

    TIA,
    Mike.

    Are you sure the drive is working?

    Do you have another drive to see if it is recognized?

    Thanks for replying, Joe. It's always possible it's DOA. No other drive to try. Also tried 3 different SATA ports - all on the native controller - no luck.

    Check seating of cables.

    Substitute a known working SATA cable.

    Try it on another SATA power connector, preferably on another line.

    Move the drive and cable to another PC and see if it is recognized. Less desirable, but if another PC is not available yu can use the ASMedia controller on your MB.

    RMA drive.

    Thanks FN. Tried all of your suggestions except the PC (none available) and ASMedia port (not accessible due to GPU length). Guess I'll email Newegg support for an RMA.

    'Preciate the assistance.

    You do know those cards come out right? And your system has a nice HD Graphics 530 onboard graphics perfect for diagnostic use?

    Yup - just reverse what I did Wed. when I installed it.

    Already got an RMA, and ordering a Samsung 850 Pro to replace it.

    Thanks again!
