Window 10 upgrade failure from Windows 7 Pro

I have a laptop and a PC, both currently running fully updated 32 bit versions of Windows 7 Ultimate. When trying to update each to Windows 10 Pro as an administrator I'm getting an error code 80070005 which I understand is known as "access denied". I've cleaned up the registry on both machines, checked the integrity of the files, and tried with my virus protection disabled and minimal start-up programs running; all to no avail. I don't want to be a clean install on either machine due to the amount of specifically configured MS Office software I run.

Time is now running out for free updates. Has anyone any suggestions as to how I beat these update failures?

Have you tried using the Media Creation Tool?

Don't forget to create an image backup before attempting the upgrade, just in case.

    cheers, Paul
