    Comparing data in columns

I use a spreadsheet to send out bulk emails to staff members. The spreadsheet contains each employee's ID number. The spreadsheet is updated weekly.

Each week I need to compare the current data against the previous week's version. I want to easily find out who is new to the company and also who has left the company since the previous version of the file. I've tried a few options but can't get the result I need. I can add any amount of extra columns to the spreadsheet for my calculations if this helps with a solution.

I've attached a basic spreadsheet with examples. Can anyone please help?

    thank you.

    Hi indi

Welcome to the Lounge as a new poster!

I have attached an updated file that uses formulas and conditional formatting to show you ways of comparing the data in the columns.
    Hope this helps.

Here is an alternative solution using the Countif() formulas:

In cell B3 then copy down
    =IF(COUNTIF($C$3:$C$14,A3)>0,"","TERMED")

In cell D# then copy down
    =IF(COUNTIF($A$3:$A$12,C3)>0,"","NEW")

Thank you both so much for you help. I'll play around with both options and see which one I find works best for me.

    Appreciate your help
