    Tab key inoperative (2002)

I have recently experienced some strange behaviour in Outlook (2002 SP1, but problem pre-dates SP1, under Windows XP Pro) in that, most of the time, the tab key is being ignored, both in mail messages and other areas such as the Notes fields of Contacts and Calendar items. Just occasionally, it works, however.

It's not the keyboard - the tab key works normally both in tabbing between Outlook fields and in other Office applications.
I'm not using Word as my E-mail editor in Outlook.

I can get by using spaces instead of tabs, but it's not ideal. Does anyone have any ideas?

You might try hitting Control-Tab when Tab doesn't work by itself. Word and Outlook have interesting ideas about where tabs should be allowed - Control-Tab tells them "I don't care what you think, put a tab character in right here!

Yes, I know about the magic Control-Tab, Scott, but unfortunately even when I say "put a tab character in right here!" it says "Go into the wilderness and multiply!"

Many thanks anyway for your help.
