    Downlooad Win-10 ISO

    Hello,
    I'm (trying to) follow/ing Fred Langa's article on testing Win-10 on a VPC ( http://windowssecrets.com/top-story/...-step-by-step/ ).
He says a certain page should have the link to downoad the ISO :
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso

Unfortunately, that article was written in October 2014 and the page URL changes : https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...dy_Win10PubRel
and all I get there is an upgrade button.
If I click that it downloads a 7.28 MB file called "GetWindows10-sds_____________.exe"

I click that and nothing happens. (I had the GWX Control Panel tool installed on recommendation of WindowsSecrets columnists, to prevent Win-10 getting installed by stealth. I uninstalled that today and now I download that 7.28 MB file but the download file still seems to get rolled by it : hold the cursor over the file and it gives "Description : GWX Web Windows".)

Have they stopped supplying the ISO?
How do I get the exercise to work?

Right now, smoke is coming out of my ears !
    Thanks for any help.

Using this link ( that is in your post ): https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...dy_Win10PubRel
It should take you here: ISO.PNG

Before you uninstalled GWX control panel, did you "Allow W10 to be installed" so that it changes the settings back? Also, not knowing what updates you have, it's possible that you need to run WU first to get the ones to make W10 work.

@destry - you also need to remember that the MediaCreationTool needs to be run when logged in as an administrator.

It does not work if you use the "RunAs" option.

Scroll down on the Win10 download page - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...dy_Win10PubRel. There should be a "Download tool now" button. That will begin the process for the Media Creation Tool which is what you want.

    Ahhhh, thanks everyone.
I did download the MediaCreation Tool yesterday but I thought it got used after all the GBs were downloaded to my HDD.
I'm a babe in the woods.
I'll delay making that for 24 hrs... create it on a flash drive... when I get one.

Thanks lumpy, Ray, and Joe... in 100 languages.
