    Windows 10 Market Share

Contrary to some who laud Win 10 to the high heavens its market share is only around 17 %, dwarfed by Win 7 with 48%. Is microsoft being realistic on Win 10 takeup. Many seem to be voting with their feet and sticking with what they've got. Are Microsoft fudging the figures.

Those are third party numbers. You need to examine the methodology which each third party uses to get a perspective of what is really being reported. It would be difficult and stupid for Microsoft to attempt to fudge those numbers.

Note that Win7 is almost 7 years old and Win10 is less than 1 year old. The number of PCs is larger now than when Win7 was released. It is not surprising that Win7 is still much larger at this point. Sales of Win7 pre-installed on systems will cease October 31, 2016. Almost all new PCs will be running Win10 very soon if they aren't already. With many users keeping systems longer today than when Windows 7 was release you'll likely not see a huge increase in Win10 usage in any one month. But, Windows 10 will continue its steady rise. Also, many people are keeping older systems around for various reasons after getting a new everyday system. So, the decrease in Win7/8/8.1 usage will be slower than one might typically expect.

Who really wants a new PC with W7 on it? You wouldn't want a new car with a 10 year old radio design...

    cheers, Paul

I'd be tempted if the radio was valve/tube.

Some people have expensive hardware and software that isn't being updated for Windows 10.

The people who are really buying them. OEM's are still offering them for sale, so there is definitely a continuing market for Windows 7 new PC's.

No, but if I could afford it, I'd definitely want a car in new condition from the 1960s. With a modern radio!
