    KeePass and Form Auto Filling

    Greetings All -

    I've been a long time RoboForm user and am in the process of swapping it for something different, for a few reasons. I

    've been working with KeePass for a few months now and have been able to establish the login credentials for every site I visit that needs user authentication. I don't always understand why the auto-fill function works or doesn't, but after some messing around I have been able to get it to work. Works perfectly once any idiosyncrasy has been tweaked.

    What I haven't been able to do is put something together that will fill in all the information necessary to buy something: name address, credit card number, etc. RoboForm performed this task wonderfully. I'd like to be able to do the same thing with KeePass, but without success. Any advice would be appreciated as always. Thanks.

    Casey H.

    KeePass doesn't auto-fill like Roboform so you won't be able to do this automatically - a good thing in my opinion.
    What I do is drag n drop the required information into the relevant fields. I also use the KPEnhancedEntryView plug-in to show all available custom fields in the main KeePass window.

    cheers, Paul

    Thanks Paul. I'm having a hard time envisioning how that works. Do you just create multiple entries under the advanced tab and drag them from there?

    Fyi RoboForm doesn't have to auto-fill. There are three settings, pick one in the options:
    No auto-fill, manually click the RoboForm 'Fill Forms' button;
    Auto-fill;
    Auto-fill and auto-submit.

    Create multiple Custom fields with the required information, then drag n drop from those fields. e.g. One called "Code" could be the 3 digit security code.
    Expiry date seems to vary from site to site, so I tend to record the date and enter it manually after DnD for all other fields.

    Would you like me to post an example entry?

    cheers, Paul

    I would, the only part of Keepass I struggle with; would be grateful for any enlightenment.

    The attached file is in V2 XML format. Save it and then import it into your database - it will appear in the root group and there will be a spurious group called "Delete Me", which you can delete.
    This entry has all the fields you need for various cards, but I've used the "username" field for the name on the card.
    To easily view and drag n drop values you need to load the KPEnhancedEntryView plug-in and select the Side by Side window layout (View > Window Layout).

    cheers, Paul

    Code:
