Cool Yahooo for GWX Control Panel!

I've pretty much had the same Windows update problem that everyone else has had for quite some time now. My main computer hasn't been able to do an update in a year. Same for my laptop. Today I saw someone mention GWX Control Panel. Downloaded it. Installed it. Ran it. It found all the Win10 stuff on both computers. Cleaned it up, and then both computers went to the updates and found 81 and 66 updates respectively. Both computers downloaded and installed all updates in about an hour!

Kudos to Josh Mayfield for writing this.

I think he means Yahoo as in Whoopie rather than Yahoo as in Internet mail.

I'm more puzzled as to how the OP had a lot of Windows 10 stuff on the computers if he hasn't been able to do any updates for a year, not to mention why he hasn't taken action on that before now. Also, he clearly hasn't removed all Windows 10 stuff if the computers are still trying to install the upgrade. At the very least I think he needs to run GWX Control Panel in monitor mode and see what else comes up, as well as ensuring that updates are not set on automatic and that GWX Control Panel indicates in the status and settings summary that he appears to be safe. The chances are that running GWX Control Panel removed any Windows 10 updates and - for reasons I don't understand - this enabled the computers to patch updates again which, however, simply resulted in the offending Windows 10 updates being reinstalled.

Looks to me like the OP didn't use all the features of GWX Control Panel, maybe he should read about how to use it here http://blog.ultimateoutsider.com/201...ly-remove.html
and then get rid of all the W10 stuff.

    Cool

Reading about GWX Control panel on several different forums, it appears that it's a bit much for many casual users.
Many bloaks just can't handle anything with more than one option.

For those who really need something simple....go to " GRC.com/never10.htm "
    ( https://www.grc.com/never10.htm ) and download " Never10.exe ".
It's simple, straight forward and Very Effective.

It's really much simpler than the GWX Control Panel.
    Thank you Steve!

    Cheers mates!

Exactly. That's why I added the extra "o".

I'm definitely a newbie to GWX, so it may take some time for me to "get" all of it's ins & outs. For now, I'm just happy that it solved my update problems. The occasional error doesn't bother me.

I've found the easiest way is the two very simple registry hacks described here.

    Yeah. Quite right.

We should not confuse "Yahoo" with "Yahooo"?
