We need more information to help.
I assume you are getting the POP3 password pop-up, correct?
What is the email service you are connecting to?
Can you access the service via web mail?
Is this your first time setting up Outlook or are you adding an email account?

    cheers, Paul

I'm adding an email account, Yes I can access it via gmail.com. and yes this is a pop3 password pop-up. I also receive a msg when trying to send a test msg that says "Cannot find the e-mail server. Verify the server information in your account properties.

log onto incoming mail server POP3 works fine I get a green check for that.*

Gmail has settings to allow external pop3 / smtp. Have you set that?
Are you using smtp.googlemail.com on port 465 with SSL/TLS?

    cheers, Paul

It works and I am using pop.gmail.com and 465 with SSL. But what fixed it was recreating the email address on gmail.com and deleting the old one.

Where do i mark as solved?
