    Phantom user HomeGroupUser$

When my computer restarts, it offers to start with user HomeGroupUser$ (there may be some underscores in there, I forget).

This user is unknown to me, and doesn't show up in my list of users.

My computer was in a HomeGroup, but there were problems, and I'm trying to fix things. It's a back-burner project, however.

What the heck is HomeGroupUser$, and how can I get rid of it???

That user is automatically created by Windows to manage Home Group access. If you are not using a HomeGroup disable the user.
