    computing the passing score

    Hi!

    I have created an excel file that would convert scores to grade. i.e. if score is 100 (out of a total points of 100), then the grade will be 95.

    The only problem is that i have is to determine the passing score based on the passing grade of 80. And the bigger problem is that if 80 is listed multiple times on A8:A208, the passing score should be the lowest score. example: if the grade 80 is listed 3 times and the scores are 23,24,25, then in B3 the passing score should be 23.

    I'm not sure if I'm making any sense. but please see the attached excel file and feel free to ask.

    Thank you!

    Hi

    The array formula you need for the passing score in cell [B3 is:
    =MIN(IF(A8:A208=$E$3,B8:B208))
    (use ctrl-shift-enter to put the array formula in the cell)

    ..see attached file.

    hi zeddy!

    Thank you so much for your response. I just tweaked it a little bit and changed it to:

    =MIN(IF(A8:A208>=$E$3,B8:B208))

    The reason for that is to accommodate those scores that does not equate to a grade of 80.

    Thanks again! you're such a great help!
