Taking a computer to factory settings

HiThe following question is for my son. He says he 'refreshed' his HP Pavilion 23 computer. Apparently that means it went back to the day he bought it. Now he has 256 updates from Microsoft. Should he download them all at once?? Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, I forgot to add, that is for win 8.1. He says. it is working so wonderfully, he does not want to download any updates, but he knows he should.

You have 2 options, download all the updates or upgrade to Windows 10 straight away via the Windows Media Creation Tool.
    Your choice.

    cheers, Paul

Another option would be to download and install GWX Control Panel to prevent Windows 10 from being installed then apply the updates
