    Recovering forum posting histories

Every time I either update or fresh install Windows 10 (Insider program), I seem to lose all posting histories for WindowsSecrets.

Is there a way I can back this up and restore it after such an occurrence?

    Regards,

What browser are you using? This seems odd since posting history would seem to be something kept in the forum database rather than any kind of cookie that could be erased.

Graham I use Firefox mostly, but also IE. Yes, I would think that the forum would have the data, but evidently not, because I log in and it shows no history on my profile.

I just had a Windows 10 (Insider) build update last nite, and this is what is causing it locally, and I understand and accept that. But isn't there a way to copy that info before doing an update?

    Chuck,

You are correct. I just checked my Insider laptop and the only two entries were ones made after it was updated to build 14372 yesterday.

However, you can use the links on the left (Find latest posts and Find latest started threads) to get your history. It's all still there. So my assumption is that the immediate history is stored in a cookie that gets wiped with the installation of an insider build.

You could identify that cookie and save it or just backup and restore all your cookies before installing the next build.

I have a laptop running Insider Preview just updated to 14372 yesterday.
I also have a laptop running Win 10 Home RTM 10586.420

Both laptops retain my post histories.

    I am using IE11 exclusively.

I assumed that you had clicked the "View all subscribed threads" button at bottom right ?
