    Star lounger ?

I hope I am posting in the right place.
    If not, my apology.

My main question : How does this "star" rating works ?

My "side" question : I have gone through briefly the F&Q section and I notice 2 things that do not seem to be applicable to these forums, namely "reputation" and "user CP". Am I right ?

The star rating system is purely based on Post count.

No, there's no reputation system active here.

The star rating is based on number of posts, the more you post the higher number of stars you are awarded, then bronze, silver and gold. At some point you will go to platinum. If you are particularly helpful, you can be awarded VIP status. How you get to be an admin or mod I don't know.

Of course, having more stars etc. is no indication of value, but we all get to know who can be trusted and who perhaps less so. I'm disinclined to click on a link in a new poster unless it's obvious one of those I trust has done so first.

By user CP do you mean your username at top right, along side notifications, my profile etc.?

Oops sorry, you responded while I was typing Satrow...

The only 'rating' is the number of times thanked, but that's not consistently used so it doesn't mean that much either.

Yes. There is no User CP at top right.
I am quite familiar with this hosting. I am a member of several forums one of which also uses this setup.

    no user cp.jpg

In another forum, there is User CP at top right.

Apparently Settings replaces User CP in our forums.

.........the more you post the higher number of stars you are awarded...........

No disrespect is intended, but that is what others called "post counts" which do not equate to how well a member did on giving useful answers.
In fact, it could be misleading.

    Agreed.
In one forum I had more correct answers confirmed by the OPs than number of threads "Marked Solved" under my name.

The " thanks" is just a bonus satisfying own ego.
