    Problem logging in to WindowsSecrets

It just happens last 2 days that I am having issue trying to login to the forum.

I am using Windows 10 Home RTM 1586.420
    Browser : IE11.

Upon clicking open Windowssecrets shortcut, I get this instead................

I have to click Refresh in order to get to the normal signin page...............

Also, I am not getting forums replies from my WLM and that also appears to happen in last 2 days.

I am wondering if it is my computer. If so, I can try system restore.
But I would like to hear from the forum mods or admins first.

    Thank you.

    Adding ............

    Browser cache has been cleared.
Browsing history is set to delete upon exit.
    IE11 has been Reset.

    Still the same issue.

Reads like a W10/IE issue, try SFC /scannow, keep history/cookies...

The computer in question is used exclusively for forums participations.
I am doing a system restore right now picking June 21st as restore point.

This reply is done with my other laptop running Windows 10 Insider Preview.
No problem logging in with this laptop.

BUT I still don't get emails alerting me that I have replies from this forum. Not from this laptop either.

    System Restore does nothing helpful.

I am now doing a system file check.

There was one reply that got caught in the Junk folder.
    Just one.
I went to the web and open the email account there, there were no emails.

sfc done...... found corrupt files but unable to repair.
    dism ..... > restorehealth ............ operation successful.
sfc again .....found corrupt files and successfully repaired them.

I still have the same login issue.

This only happens to my Win 10 RTM 10586.420 laptop.
My Insider laptop has no problem logging in.

It appears that someone has just kicked the forum's mail server... I've just had 12 email notifications from WSL arrive in the last 45 minutes.

    Hope this helps...

No. I get no email notifications from this forums.

By the way, is this windowssecrets.com based in UK ?

A WHOIS query shows the WindowsSecrets.com website is hosted in Lansing, Michigan, US.

The owner - a company called Penton - is headquartered in 1166 Avenue of the Americas, New York, United States.

I agree with Satrow in post #3 that it looks like a W10/IE issue (or corrupted shortcut?), if only that you have to refresh the page in IE11 for it to display correctly. I suggest you deal with the faulty display first (before tacking the forum login issues).

    To check:
    1. Copy the address in the address bar to the Windows clipboard after the webpage displays correctly, i.e. after you have refreshed it.
    2. Close IE11.
    3. Open Edge and navigate to the same address by pasting the URL into the address bar and pressing Enter.
    4. Open IE11 by right-clicking on the Windows Start button (the flag), select the Run option and enter iexplore. (This is so no shortcuts are involved.)
    5. Paste the URL into IE's address bar and press Enter.

If step 5 results in the forum's webpage opening and displaying correctly in IE11 then this suggests an issue with the shortcut when opened that way.

If step 5 doesn't result in the forum's webpage opening and displaying correctly in IE11 (without having to refresh) but step 3 does result in the forum's webpage opening and displaying correctly in Edge then this suggests an issue with IE's browser cache or IE itself. The next step would be to clear out IE's cache (i.e. Delete Browsing History from within IE's Tools > Internet options > General > Browsing history > Delete...), especially the top 3 options, then try again.

    IE11_browsing_history.png

If the issue persists after clearing out IE's cache then create a new local W10 account, log into the new account and repeat the steps. If the issue doesn't appear in IE using the new account then this suggests the issue is related to a problem with the profile of the W10 account you have been using.

    Hope this helps...

    OK.
Microsoft's dirty trick making me to use Edge ?

Edge works flawlessly while accessing this forum.

Damn ! I hate using Edge.
