It's not really mysterious, more a last ditch attempt by MS to persuade Windows 7/8.1 users to upgrade to Windows 10 by July 29th so it can trumpet how successful this unfinished new OS is doing... this time by using the subtle method of popping up a full-screen reminder.

Most people call this a PUP, i.e. a Potentially Unwanted Program. Others are less complimentary...

Wow, that is low. I did the "more information" link in WU and got a page does not exist return. A Google search also revealed nothing. Now when I try it again, I see MS and Google are giving the details.

Well, just remember that my post reflects solely my opinion... and there will be many who think Windows 10 is the best thing to have ever happened.

(I was notified of the same update about 20 minutes after your original post. I just right-clicked on it and chose to Hide it. I really don't need to installl any more such 'Important' updates from MS, even though I already use GWX Control Panel.)
