Default font keeps reverting back to Calibri

I changed the default font to Arial 10pt, Regular in the normal.dotm template.

When I use any style in my style window, the font always reverts back to Calibri.

I select the entire doc and change all to Arial.

Then, when I click any style, Calibri is the style.

I don't like Calibri, and the company I'm working for doesn't want to have their documents based on Calibri.

I've been using Word since 1995. I even have the "Hackers Guide to Word for Windows." Word 2016 is really difficult to use because of bugs like this.

How can I fix this issue? We're going to have techs working on these docs, and I can't submit them with Calibri as the default font.

Please, any insight would be very helpful.

    Thanks

Do you set the default the same as in Word 2010? I haven't Upgraded my 2010 or 2013 to 2016 yet.

In 2010 I click the AA Change Styles in the ribbon and the Home tab, choose the Font to use then back to the AA on the ribbon I click Set default at the bottom of the list.

Does this link help? I've just used it and the default font appears to stick, though there is a bit about it not sticking further down the page.
Power corrupts. Absolute power is kinda neat though.

Charles - thanks for the tip. I followed the instructions in the link. I'll have to see what happens when I go back into the doc I'm working on.
