    Cumulative Update KB3172988?

Anyone knows more about this one ?

It is not offered from Windows Update.
Should we go to Windows Catalog Update to download it ?

KB3172988 which will update your Windows 10 Build number to 10586.499

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3172988

    excerpt :

To get the stand-alone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

This update replaces the previously released update 3172985.

In other words, if your not having any problems ( some did ) with KB3172985, don't bother?

It didn't help me any, like KB3712985, it gets to 98% complete then states it can't complete the update and rolls it back.

I am sorry to hear that.
I have no idea how to help you.
    Sorry.

Are you using Windows Update or the standalone package?

AFAIK you have to go to the MS Update catalog site to D/L KB3172988 since it doesn't show up on W10 WU at the computer ( at least so far ). I didn't have any problems with KB3712985 so I didn't pursue KB3172988 as a D/L.

I've tried both..........numerous times, always fails at 98% complete, that's both 2985 and 2988. Never had an issue with updates until now.

Have you checked C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log for the error code?

Do you have multiple partitions? How big is the partition where Windows is installed?

Nope, single partition, here's the current (as of this typing) usage................used 212 gig...........free229 gig. SSD is a SSD Extreme Pro 480GB. I've found others having the same issue, the Anniversary Update will be big, will see what happens then. Thanks for the help, should I stumble across a fix I'll post back.
