Burning in adapter hell: Have a number of adapters which were provided with the cards. After successfully filling (USB2 speeds) with 32GB music & reusing the adapters 2-3 more times, they often eventually fail to show a Win7 drive number with what can be found to be a 'good' chip in a different adapter. The adapter/card unit gets a bit warm after a 32GB fill.

Do the contacts become oxidized?? What metals other than gold could be used on the the adapter contacts? I would like to hear an explanation from anyone in the mgf industry.
