    VPN Dialup adapter conflict

I have three notebook PC's (two Compaq and one Dell) all running Win98SE. I set them up for users to access our server while out of the office by dialing up an ISP (the same ISP, the same 800 #) then starting a VPN session into our LAN. One notebook works fine. The other two give an error message when starting the VPN session that the dial up adapter is already in use?? Of course it's in use, that's the whole point. I removed both the dial up adapter and vpn adapter from Network neighborhood and reinstalled them, but got the same results. Any suggestions?

    Re: VPN Dialup adapter conflict

Check your Device Manager (Control Panel | System | Device Manager) - under Network Adapters there must be your NIC (if you install one) and three other virtual adapters: Dial-Up Adapter, Dial-Up Adapter #2 (VPN Support) and Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter.

I think one of Dialup adapters is missing.
