OT: The big Win10 upgrade day's today.

Off topic since this forum's usually for non-Windows stuff, but just logging in here to say I hope the upgrades for all goes smoothly. Just checked and it's not replicated to me yet.

It's not an upgrade day but the start of an indefinite period when upgrades will take place.

There isn't enough bandwidth in the known universe* to cope with downloads to every one of the trillions* of Windows 10 laptops and PCs on the same day.

I'm sure you're right, BATcher. Just did a manual update check and still no update. Wonder if anyone here received their update already (those not participating in the guinea pig program that is; lol).

    There's also an explanation here:
How to download and install the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

I'm not sure if I'm in a big hurry to download it anyway yet, so I may just wait. Undecided.

There are cases where the update has caused problems so it may be best to wait until it comes naturally should it be modified.

I know I won't be trying any more manual downloads.

I don't think MS are going to push it out until the 9th.

    Thanks, Andy.

It will get its chance but I hope I have a better experience with it than I've had.

The thing is, if it keeps hanging at the same spot and I have to restore, I could be in a permanent loop

I tried phoning MS but the only options I found were for paid help.

It must be laptop specific given that some have had no problems, but I haven't a clue what's causing the hang after that particular restart.
