    No Updates Listed in W10

I've been running W10 Pro 10586.494 for nearly six months. I was curious to learn which updates had been installed during this period. Went to 'View Installed Updates' and it told me 'No updates have been installed'. How is this possible? I'm certain any number have been installed.

    Try this:

    1. Right-click on Start.
    2. Click on Command Prompt (Admin).
    3. When the commandline window opens, type powershell then press Return (Enter).
    4. At the PS prompt, copy/paste the following then press Return (Enter):
    Code:
    Get-HotFix | select-object hotfixid,installedon | sort installedon | more
    Does this show installed updates?

    Rick,

Interesting piece of PS code. What I found more interesting was the result!
    Code:
    PS> Get-HotFix | select-object hotfixid,installedon | sort installedon | more

    hotfixid InstalledOn
    -------- -----------
    KB3176929 8/3/2016 12:00:00 AM
It looks like MS is starting you with a clean slate with the anniversary update.

Update: Just for comparison here are the results from my Non-AU Laptop
    Code:
    PS> Get-hotfix | Select-Object hotfixid, installedon | Sort-Object installedon | More

    hotfixid InstalledOn

Hmmm... here's the results from my Non-AU desktop:

    Code:
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-HotFix | select-object hotfixid,installedon | sort installedon | more

    hotfixid InstalledOn

It's a Dell tower running W10 Pro x64, is left running 24/7 and I've made no effort to tweak it to avoid/delay updates. I have no idea why some 'installed on' info is missing nor why there are so few updates by comparison, i.e. none since May. Not that I want it 'fixed'. If I could work out why it's not updating then I'm sure others would be interested.

Similar to 'Microsoft time' (the 'law' that dictates how Windows shows random, optimistic and ever-changing 'time left' figures, e.g. "20 minutes remaining... 37 minutes remaining... 2 minutes remaining... nah, 120 minutes remaining", etc.), it looks like a new Microsoft Law is in effect: "The only consistency is the lack of consistency".

(I tried 6 times yesterday to upgrade to the Anniversary Update. The download and verification completed successfully every time but the actual installation kept failing at 2% so I gave up. After having read some of the recent comments here on WSL I'm now glad the upgrade failed and have no plans to force it manually.)

Not surprising that the AU clears prior updates. It is the rough equivalent to a service pack. Therefore, it is a rollup of prior fixes (both public and private) and new features. Old fixes are all part of the AU and thus not needed to be listed separately.

Same thing happened when I went from 10240 to 1511, it cleared all previous updates and started anew.

This is what powershell found. Looking in Control Panel matched these. Can't imagine why Settings/Update would say no updates installed.

    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32> Get-HotFix | select-object hotfixid,installedon | sort installedon | more

    hotfixid InstalledOn
