Edge is MUCH WORSE with Anniversary Update

While I love the ability to add extensions to Edge and to pin pages, the increased functionality comes with a price - Edge is now virtually unusable. It is much slower than before and much, much, much slower than any other browser. There are frequent issues trying to close Edge and having to resort to ending the task. The spinning blue circle spends way too much time rotating on web pages so browsing on a long page is impossible.

I suppose the simple answer for now is to stop using it or roll back.

MS must be aware of the problems this update has caused by now that they should be debugging it - if they care.

What are you doing in Edge? I'm using Edge more and more and have not observed what you have. Perhaps it is one of the extensions you've installed.

BTW, that's a couple of snarky comments about Microsoft. If there was anything widely prevalent that could be patched Microsoft would've issued a patch. It is less than one week. I'd expect a patch rollup as soon as this coming week. That is not to say this particular issue will be resolved.

I've only installed the Lastpass extension. The main reason I would use Edge is if it supported Lastpass so if Lastpass is the problem, I'll bail on Edge.

Back up your favorites (and don't forget your passwords) and try resetting edge. When I recently re-installed Win10, Edge would take 10s of seconds before allowing me to browse and then it would browse pages slowly. Resetting Edge fixed all those issues, but doing so will eliminate all customization and history though, so back up your favorites before doing so. Click link below for the thread I started about this.

I think given MS's recent history in how they have pushed Win 10 onto unsuspecting users, their rep has definitely gone down as far as customer care is concerned, so it's quite natural for some to be quite cynical about them.

I recently had a niece's laptop to sort out which had Win 10 on it.

I asked her if she intentionally had upgraded to Win 10 and she said no - fortunately it was a Win 8.1 laptop that was upgraded so there was a better chance its hardware would have been compatible.

This may be a bit off topic, so feel free to tell me to shut up, but... Why are you using Edge vs anything else?

It was my impression that Edge was supposed to provide two things to users:
    1. A Microsoft replacement for Internet Explorer (for reasons we won't go into)
    2. A semi-touch friendly browser for Surface and other tablet/hybrid computers

From what I could see of the first version of Edge, it wasn't done cooking but Win10 couldn't wait for it to finish. I didn't dislike it but it didn't appear to have anything to offer that Firefox, Chrome, or Opera couldn't do (better).

While Edge is not my main browser, I do use it occasionally and have both the Last Pass and AdBlock Plus Extensions enabled and I haven't had any issues with it.

LastPass had been dodgy for some. I expect it will be updated rather frequently.

I use Edge because IE is a dead end. When RoboForm has an extension that will run well I'll probably abandon IE. I've not in the past because I never seemed to have the problems others had with IE. I'm very safe in my internet travels so I'm less concerned with security that others might be who visit some of the seedier parts on the online world.
