    Unwanted characters on printers

We have three computers - and old laptop running Windows 10 and Word 2003, a brand new HP laptop (W10 and the latest Office package with Word 2016) and a brand new Mac also with the latest MS Office package (Word 2016). We have two printers - a Samsung and a Cannon. The printers are connected wirelessly via the BT router. All works well but for one small problem. When I print from Windows 2016 to either printer I get unwanted characters at the top of the page - about nine rows of characters - but sometimes (mostly) they overprint to give one smudged row. When I print using Word 2003 there is no problem. When I print a scan there is no problem.

Can anyone offer me some advice please?

    Hi brinton,
Do the funky characters appear when you print from Excel or some other Office 2016 application? If so, do they also appear when you print from a text editing application such as WordPad or Notepad?

    Thanks for responding Dave.
I went to do the tests you suggested but the printer couldn't be seen by the Mac - a further development!! Ten mins with the Mac help man and now I am printing again and no unwanted characters - yippee!

Thanks again for taking time to respond

    Cheers

Have you tried getting newer printer drivers (MAC and Windows) for each printer, and installing them on the Word 2016 computers?
