IE 11 want Links to open in new Tab by default

I'm aware of a few ways to make site links open in a new tab--eg click middle mouse button, Ctrl+left click, right-click for context menu.

However, is it possible to set this to be the default left-click action? I tried the Tabs in Internet Options, setting the bottom 2 choices to 'new tab', but no joy.

Couple of places I've tried, incl here, the new link opens in the current tab. Btw, I do not want the focus to change to the new tab, merely for it to be launched for later reading--which is what happens when I employ the ways in my first sentence.
