What SMTP server are you running?
When it crashes, what do the Windows Application logs say? (Start > Run, eventvwr)

    cheers, Paul

    Paul,

Thank you for the response and help. the smtp is just a local smtp on my server. as far as the logs, I went to the event viewer you described but seen a lot of things. again, sorry I'm new and I hope I don't sound too stupid I guess. what category or line am I looking for when I'm on that screen?

Read the "Application" and "System" logs for anything relating to the smtp server.

    Why are you running smtp?

    cheers, Paul
