Unwanted Change to the Title Bar

I have Word on two computers. Computer 1 shows the Word title bar like this:

    Word OK Capture.PNG

Computer 2 formerly showed it the same way, but something happened and now it shows it like this (note the gray title bar with a fade effect):

    WordGlowingCapture.png

The same changes happened to Excel, but not (that I can see) to other, non-Office applications.

How can I get Computer #2 back the way it was?

    Lou,

The only thing I found that affects that is:
    LouColors.JPG

However, none of the 3 options offered for Color Scheme produce any thing like your first example. Unless you have downloaded some custom color schemes. Check out the setting in File->Options->General->Color scheme:

Give each one a try and see if you can get what you want.

Note: changing this item seems to affect all the programs in my copy of Office 2010 Pro!

I fixed it, but I'm not sure how it got the way it was before I fixed it, or how to get that setting again for those who like it. The key seems to be this:

    1. Right click on the desktop
    2. Choose Personalize. A Personalize window will appear.
    3. The left side of the Personalize window has five menu selections. If Background isn't already highlighted, click it.
    4. In Background, click the third square on the top line. This sets your background to blue (your taste may differ)
    5. On the left side of the Personalization window, click Colors
    6. Under "Choose a color" on the right side of the window, set "Automatically pick an accent color from my background" to On
    7. Set the other two sliding switches to Off
    8. On the left side of the Personalization window, click Themes.
    9. On the right side, click "Theme settings"
    10. A Control Panel window will appear. You can't see them, but the settings you just made will be in a highlighted box named "Unsaved Theme". Right click that box and choose "Save theme". Give your theme a name you can remember. I picked "081316 As I Like It"
    11. Close the Control Panel and Personalization windows
    12. Open Word and click the File tab
    13. Double click Options
    14. Locate "Color scheme:" in the "General" window. Use the drop-down arrow to select Silver.
    15. Make sure everything is as you wanted it to be, then say a little prayer of thanks for the intuitiveness that Microsoft has built into this process. (Remember that it is good to be thankful for small favors.)

BTW, when the Control Panel window described above is active, you can click icons at its bottom to change your Sounds and Screen Saver.

I take my hat off to you for a) persevering; b) fixing it; and c) documenting it.

I get quite a lot of help from Loungers, and I don't have a lot to contribute in return. I figure the least I can do is to document the solutions I find.
