    Password Reset Disk Not Working

Was unable to create password reset disk (USB flash drive) after installing Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Is anyone else having the same problem? Any solutions? Thanks in advance.

Is the flash drive big enough - 32GB should be enough.

That's 16 million times too big. A password reset file is 2 KiloBytes.

But can only be created for a local account, not Microsoft account.

Using a 16GB flash drive, but that is not the issue. Windows 10 never even begins the creation process. I go to control panel and click on "Create password reset disk," and nothing at all happens. Same thing on two of my computers. Strange.

I've just tried it on a Windows 10 AU device.

Do you even get the Forgotten Password Wizard appearing?

    Hope this helps...

I have both a local and a Microsoft account sign in. The create a password reset disk only shows up for the local account. Which type do you have?

    jwitalka,

I think you answered it. I was trying to create the password reset disk from the Microsoft account. When I switched to a Local account, the option appeared in the Control Panel under Users. Problem solved, many thanks.
