    Mapped Drive not Sticking

I inserted a USB stick and then mapped it to "P" using "Disk management." But if I remove the stick and then re-insert it later, the mapping didn't/doesn't hold.

Is there a way to fix this?

Update: I just went and tried it again. The flash was mapped to "I", so I went and mapped it instead to "P." It appears to work but then switches back to "I" when I go back into "My Computer."

Update 2: Diskpart didn't show the drive P assigned anywhere, and showed "success" when I assigned P to the flash drive, but then out of Diskpart it immediately reverted to the next available letter and discarded the "P". I can use other letters seemingly, but not "P".

    How come?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow
