Save Word document with embedded files as pdf with files still embedded

A colleague has put together a guidance document. It contains a number of embedded files ("fill in this form and send it off to..."; "here's the full guidance document...").

She wants to convert the guidance (a Word document) to a pdf format, but this seems to involve converting the icons representing the embedded files into pictures, losing the embedded file.

It is possible to edit the pdf and add the files back in again, one at a time; but it's a laborious process, particularly with a long document with many embedded files, which is likely to have to be updated regularly.

There must, surely, be a way to convert the word document (with the embedded files) to a pdf (which still has the embedded files), without having to manually reinsert all the files.

Oh wise ones - can anybody tell us how to do this?

    TIA,

    Peter English.

Unless someone has a better idea, try this.
    Convert main document to pdf
Convert the other documents to be embedded to pdf and store in the same folder.
    Open the first stored file.
Attach this file at appropriate place
    Repeat with other documents

If you have Adobe Acrobat or another pdf editor you should be able to attach hyperlinks to those images to open the other document.

Not when saving a document as a pdf there isn't.

Thank you - tried that. (You can even do it with the free reader.)

When there are multiple embedded files it's very laborious.

That seems strange, but at least I know not to waste my time looking for a way to do it now...
