filenames in month order. (NT 97)

I've got a folder containing files for each month, so for example jan02.xls, feb02.xls...etc. I kind of expect that I should be able to sort the files by month,so that they are in the right order ie starting from jan and going thro to Dec. But if I sort by filename I end up with an alphabetical list starting with apr, aug etc. I suppose I could rename the files, 01jan, 02feb etc. But I don't really want to do this and was wondering if there are more elegant solutions available.

You nailed it and it is the only way is to use the month number if you want to sort by name.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
