    Email selling

Appreciate it if Penton or whomever would refrain from subscribing me to various 3rd party "partner" advertising.

There has been at least a couple other instances in the past and this was the latest:

    Windows Secrets Deals deals@windowssecrets.com
    11:45 AM (25 minutes ago)
    to ibe98765

    Which I have unsubscribed from.

Same here, I unsubscribed from their spam some time ago and all was well until today. I unsubscribed again so who knows if it will do any good.

The latest one was from part of the iNET/Penton group, Mac-Forums, rather than one of Penton's affiliates/advertisers, w/e.

It's a shame there's no all-in-one opt-out and we have to do so individually, as and when they arrive.

These Penton advertising emails are getting ridiculous, I seem to be getting at least one per day despite unsubscribing. I shall not be renewing my subscription to the newsletter when it expires next month and would hope at the same time this unwanted spam stops as well, but I suspect not.

PLEASE, we do not want all this totally irrelevant marketting stuff.

I got one about something called hostingcon europe - went into my spam folder but seeing Penton at the bottom I clicked on the unsubscribe. It was totally irrelevant to me when I was in employment, let alone now being retired! Why can't they give us a setting saying not interested in these things.

Oh and I didn't mark it as not spam - if enough do it doesn't that make it more likely that these emails are marked as spam?

I had several this last week and its a nuisance to have to unsubscribe individually. Pity we cant start a class action and sue them.

I'm a member/subscriber at 2 Penton -owned fora, aside from duplicates due to being doubly subscribed, I get fewer than one email per week-ten days.

I still unsubscribe from each email received and that seems to be functioning correctly.

They're clearly not traditional spam, we've all agreed to Penton's T&Cs, please don't mark them as such, doing so could result in all of Penton's emails being spam/blacklisted by your ISP, which could affect relevant, subscribed emails from WSL as well.

Do they come from the same domain or IP address?

The last two were from the same IP as the recent newsletters.

I used the privacy@penton.com address to request that my (primary) email address be removed from all of Penton's "mail lists/marketing communications" yesterday. Today I received the following email:

    So, fair play to Penton...

    Hope this helps...

I also received a reply, about 30 minutes before your post Rick.

I have flagged your email address for removal from the files. This will eliminate messages sent on behalf of Penton. Please allow several business days for this to fully process through the files. Should you have any other questions or concerns please contact us.

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

Still a shame that everyone would need to either go through this process or individually unsubscribe per email received when an extra link in their boilerplate text would enable it with 2-3 clicks each.
