Black Box Obscuring Icons on Desktop

    Hello All,
Thanks for your help ahead of time.
I am setting up a new Lenovo T460S laptop that is running 64 bit Windows 10 Pro.
The issue I am having is that as I create shortcuts on the desktop, each icon is obscured by a black box. If icon size is set to minimum, the entire icon is hidden behind the box. If I choose 'large' for the icon size, the box obscures most of the icon and is more or less low and to the left of the icon center.
I have tried rebuilding the icon cache (several times) - no joy.
I found a very old post in a forum for Windows Vista stating that the problem can be corrected by re-setting the color to 16 bit, rebooting, and then setting it back to 32 bit.
From what I have read, 16 bit color is not available in Win 10.
Also, I am running Classic Shell to get rid of the tiles and restore the Start Menu I prefer.
Has anyone seen this issue? Is there any insight?
    Thanks again and . . .
    Regards,
    Bob

Well, I (unintentionally) resolved the issue, so I guess this is more or less an FYI . . .
I am a refugee from Win7 Pro, and had grown tired of the Win10 "Lock Screen", so, using GPedit, I "turned it off" and . . .
Behold! The icons on the desktop are now 'normal'.
    Thanks to all nonetheless
    Regards,
    Bob
