    Odd behavior in header/footer

    Hello All,

I'm experiencing a very odd behavior in my document. This is my setup:

    - Word 2010
    - Different odd and even header/footer
    - Section break for each new chapter, starting on odd page number

    My problem is the following:

On a given page that should be displayed on the right (odd page number), when I look at the header it says "Header Odd page - Section 7" and the footer says "Footer Even page - Section 7". So both "Odd" and "Even" on the same page!

I have never seen this before and I am at a loss as to how to fix this problem.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

That does sound very odd. Can you post the document so we can examine it?

The first thing I would check is are there any tracked revisions.

    Thanks for your response!

I actually thought of the tracked revisions and I have to admit that there were a lot of them so I went ahead and accepted/refused everything.

The document is over 100 pages and contains sensitive information so I cannot post it.

Can you think of anything else I should check?

Is it possible there's a corrupt section break? Does this odd/even thing start immediately in the document or at a given section? If throughout, is there an empty section at the end of the document? I've sometimes seen that cause havoc with headers and footers.

Are there continuous section breaks? I've seen that confuse footers before, too.

Unfortunately, without seeing the document itself, there's little hope of us doing much more than throwing vague possibilities at you.

    So... HTH! Kim
