Slide shows (Office 2000 standard)

I have just started using PowerPoint about five to six months ago.

Is there a way that I can write a multimedia slide presentation to a file that can be viewed on a computer that does not have PP?

I am using PP from office 2000 standard, WindowsXP Home edition OS.

Any suggestions

Thanks

Re: Slide shows (Office 2000 standard)

Microsoft used to produce a free PowerPoint viewer which would need to be installed on the recipient's PC. This allows them to view PPT presentations even though PPT is not installed. I say used to - because I am a) not sure if this is still available and I don't know where you can get it - can another lounger help here, please?
For your part, you will need to bundle up the presentation and all the associated files. You can do this using Pack and Go (File | Pack and Go). There is a Wizard associated with this facility which will step you through it.
Hope this helps.

Hyperlinks added

You can provide the link to the free PowerPoint viewer which is available for download from the Microsoft site - http://office.microsoft.com/download.../ppview97.aspx

Note that though this is the official 2000 viewer, it is the same as the PowerPoint 97 viewer. This introduces several limitations, hence though the user can view the presentation it may/may not be an exact representation of the 2000 show.

To name a few:
- Animated gifs will not work in the viewer
- Action settings of individual shapes within grouped shape will not work
- Picture bullets will not work
- The "hide after mouseclick" feature works differently
