Messages App Still Visible After Anniversary Update

I've noticed the "Messages" app is still installed on Windows 10 after running the Anniversary Update. I thought the app was basically a stripped-down version of Skype. Now that Skype Preview comes with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, is the "Messages" app still supposed to be installed and included for now?

    Thanks!

I don't know if Messaging still works. I quit using it when synching across devices was disabled a couple months ago. BTW, SMS was just enabled in the Skype Preview for the Insider Fast ring. Don't know when it will be generally available.

Sounds good. Do you think it'll be purged in a future Windows update? On Skype SMS, how does that work? Do I link my iPhone's number to Skype and can SMS people through Skype with it?

I don't know. I've not played with Skype SMS yet.

I would think the Messaging App will be removed when Microsoft is satisfied that Skype is robust enough and stable enough for every day use.

Thanks for the info. I think I read SMS on Skype is limited to Windows Phone, but I'm not certain how true that is.

Sounds good about Messaging App. I'll keep giving Skype Preview a spin and see how well it goes for me and keep submitting feedback to Microsoft to help make it better.
