Daughter's computer (WinME) has the compressed folders option checked (zip)...but it doesn't work at all .
I need to know how to fix this so that it can be functional. Where do I go - maybe it is corrupt???
Really need help on this please.

Re: zip utility in WinME

The zip function located in the 2nd tab of Add/Remove (components in the System Utilities).
I found what to do - uncheck it, reboot, then re-check it, reboot.
Don't know if it works yet...am trying to d/l Ad-aware, but the site I went to earlier, the basic v5.62 gives me an error re bad install media or a corrupt file. Can't get to the zip plug-in until the basic program is installed first

have you tried opening any other ZIP files? Sometimes, downloading them corrupts the checksum and you get the error you mentioned. I've also had the problem consistently from a single site, and when I download a file from a mirror it works just fine.

I've uploaded a test zip file to this post - try downloading it and opening it to see if your ZIP functionality works.
