Word Hyperlinks to PDF Links (2000)

This used to work in Word 97 and Acrobat 4.0. Now using Word 2000 and Acrobat 5.0 and have problem.
I have a number of related Word documents with inter-document hypertext links. All in same folder. Relative links. Objective is to post these on a web site, both in Word and PDF.
I edit the links in Word so that the file extensions are ".PDF."
Run PDFMaker 5.0--resulting PDF links pick up the absolute link information, which requires a manual rework of every PDF link.
I suspect that PDFMaker is picking up this data from some new Word 2000 feature. Is there some way to supress this in Word so that it does generate a bad link in the PDF file?

Re: Word Hyperlinks to PDF Links (2000)

The only thing I can think of (it has been mentioned here before) is that if the Word document has not been saved, Word will put in the absolute link; once saved, it allows the relative one. Presumably until you save it, it doesn't know where any relative link would be relative to.

I don't know if this applies in your case, but it's the only thing I can think of!
