Save paper costs (all)

Sub cmd_Orange()
    Documents.Add Template:="d:greavesOrange.dot", NewTemplate:=False
    End Sub

    So, I have this template (attached) which is a paper size of 5.5" by 8.5"; just happens to be half the size of a regular sheet of laser printer paper. Or Ink-jet. Or dot-matrix.

    The little macro (above) is set as a toolbar icon on my Standard Toolbar in Normal.dot. I use the icon from the File New command and then replace the white pixels inside the sheet with alternating red and yellow pixels to achieve the orange colour.

    Why "Orange"?

    Well, my local libraries have flyers for all sorts of fairs, festivals, fetes and functions, and they are usually printed on orange paper, 5.5x8.5. When the flyers are out of date, I collect them and use them.

    Also the local sandwich shop often has a pile of "order by phone" flyers, same size and colour, so I casually ask "May I take some of these flyers back to my office?". They ALWAYS agree most eagerly, and sometimes throw in an extra doughnut for free.

    Since I'm the only one in my office, I get to eat the doughnut.

    Now when I need to paste small data, such as street address and directions, or list of birthdates, to a reminder sheet, I click my Orange toolbar button, get a 5.5x8.5 sheet of paper on the screen, paste the data and send to the printer, inserting a stale flyer into the printer as I go.

    In my wallet or shirt pocket is a bright orange sheet that is easy to spot when I need it in a hurry; the colour tells me it is both timely and transient.

    But will it work with a daisy-wheel printer?

    Nifty idea! Thanks.

    Sure.

    How do you think they got the 5.5x8.5 sheets from the regular size in the first place?

    With a daisy-cutter, of course (more evil grin, and runs off before groans arrive ....)
