    Outlook.com ignores rule

I have a couple of newsletters that I have set up rules for. The rule is to set a category for the mail and then to move it to a specific folder. But there are a number of occasions when the rule is ignored One in particular gets sent to the Junk Mail folder despite all the rules I have tried. The sender is in my Address Book but this seems to have no effect. Any ideas?

Spam processing typically takes place before anything else. So, if an email is determined to be spam and is put in the spam folder no inbox rules will be applied.

Thanks @JoeP517. So basically there is no way that I can ensure that mails from this sender do not end up in the Junk folder?

White listing the send should do it. Have you added the account to your safe senders list?

I'm having the same problem. Rules work for some but not for all. If I mark something as Not Junk, does that Whitelist it?

No, it does not whitelist it. You need to add the sender to the safe senders list.

Thanks Joe, I will do that.
But now, wow, I don't know what to say. This thing is a real mess now. All of a sudden, I whitelisted 1 address, that's the only change I made and I don't really think that is causing the problem. But now, everything that i have set up rule for is going into one folder. The other folders are there, so I don't know why they are going into the one folder. A lot of them were going into the correct folders, while some, that had rules set up, were going into the junk mail folder.
The interface on the Rules window is also more difficult to deal with. Whereas before, the whole list was shown, you did have to scroll down the page, now it's all in a small box and you can only see 5 at a time. Search does work, it would just be nice if it was a little easier to work with.
And, of course, it would be nice if it just worked! Like it did before this update. I wish MS would just acknowledge it and let us know if a fix is coming. I hate to go through a bunch of corrections and then have a new update come out.

Well I added the address to the Safe Sender list and for good measure added the address to the Safe Mailing list, but the mails are still being marked as junk. The mail does contain hyperlinks, but only to one site that I know is a safe site. Can't think of anything else I can do.

Have you double checked to make sure the sender is not in the blocked list?

Same problem here and on your advice, I checked the Blocked list. Entries were not there.

No good ... changing to Exclusive send 90% of all mail to the Spam box. May have to live with it.
