You don't need one if you believe in Democracy but I've heard on the news there's been a rush for applications for Canadian Citizenship

Can any of you US guys confirm that anything major or controversial that Trump wants to implement, that it has to be passed by both Congress and the Senate ?

I think Nostradamus got there first, some time in the 1500s!

Many Hollywood types have said that if Trump is elected, they will leave the US. It seems like the same people say this before every presidential election; however, if the person they don't want actually gets elected, they never seem to follow through on their "vow" to leave the US. My guess is that you won't see very many "refugees" leaving the US this time around either.

Yes, I can confirm that. In fact, Trump can't actually propose any laws himself; he will have to get someone in Congress to do that for him. And anything that is proposed will need to pass both houses of Congress.

A way that Obama has bypassed Congress and implemented controversial things is via Executive Order. But Executive Orders are not supposed to be used to create laws; rather, they are only supposed to provide direction to the Executive (i.e. "Presidential") branch of the government. In my honest opinion, Trump won't abuse Executive Orders like Obama has.

I purposely didn't comment on Trump's specific policies; I limited what I said to how he will go about trying to enact his policies, vs. how Obama went about enacting his policies.

I really don't want to get into commenting on Trump's specific policies. If we venture too much into politics, this wonderful blog that we have all come to know and love will likely devolve into a major food fight.

With the power of the Executive being expanded by every President who knows? The Repulsivins have been complaining about the DemonRats using executive power but history indicates they will be doing the same if 'needed'. However with both Houses gone Repulsivin it may not be needed.

I hope the donald doesn't get fed up with the system and leave, he is the most liberal of the republicans and Pence, who would take over, is a right ring wing religious conservative.

    cheers, Paul

I can't imagine Trump getting fed up and leaving. He's a tough-skinned, successful New York City businessman. He is well-prepared for the rough-and-tumble.

Anyone can succeed if their dad left them vast sums, except George Bush Jr of course.
