Question Tables of Authorities and Contents

    Hello,

I'm using Word 2013. When I create a table to authorities (or contents), the tables display the page numbers as "- 1 -" "- 2 -" etc. The page numbers in the document itself do not have the leading and trailing dashes (i.e., they are 1, 2, 3, etc.). When a particular authority is referenced in the document on, say, three pages, the TOA shows "authority ......... - 2 -, -8 -, -19 -" which looks too odd. Is there a way to control how the page numbers appear in the TOA/TOC?

    Thanks

For each section in the document, you need to ensure the page number format is set correctly.

Go to Insert > Page Number > Format Page Numbers... > Number format >
    Set it to 1, 2, 3, ... instead of -1-, -2-,-3-, ...
