    Saving (97 & 2000)

In EXCEL 97 and 2000, is it possible to set it so that it will automatically save a backup copy of every file saved or does one have to check that option separately each time for each individual file?

If you will create a new workbook and then save this workbook as a template named Book.xlt in your XLStart directory, then that option should be on for all new workbooks created.

Hadn't thought of that - you mean if you set the save options for your book.xlt template then all files based on that template will have the same options?

    Catherine,

it should also work for 97 versions, and also note that if you want sheet specific options (Windows Options) to be applied to all new worksheets you insert in a workbook, they will be based on a template called Sheet.xlt, if such exists in your XLStart folder.
