    Timed Backups

    Two questions:

    (1) I usually use batch files to specify what I want to backup and where to, but I seem to remember it is possible to get these to run at a set time, for instance 3am when I'm not (usually) using the PC. Does anyone know how to do this, pls?

    (2) I am now just in the process of setting up an external hdd which is big enough to take a complete copy of my C: drive - can anyone recommend something that would enable me to set up an automatic system to copy the entire c: drive, again preferably in the middle of the night? I don't want to use something that copies as you go along (makes it difficult to use it to retrieve something accidentally deleted/saved over), just a once-a-day backup ...

Any suggestions would be gratefully received!

I've been using the Seagate backup utility for some years; but Norton Backup is also good. Both allow you to designate a backup destination (in your case, the external drive set up as a drive letter) and a time for the backup. Make sure you go through the settings menu and select options NOT to wait for responses to prompts. You can set up a daily backup of some files, modified files or the entire machine.

Thanks Tim - I think that thread must have been what I was vaguely remembering - but I didn't remember it enough to remember it was here I saw it!

I will try AIS and see how it goes.
