Changing Highlighter colours (97 or 2000)

I am wondering if anyone here knows of a way to change the colours available under the highlighter in Word 97 or 2000. I tried highlighting some text in a word document with the light blue colour. It printed very dark blue. I was hoping there was a way to customize the default colours within this option.

I think you're out of luck. The following is right from the Word 2000 Help file:

Highlighting parts of a document works best when recipients will be reviewing the document online. When you highlight parts of a document that you intend to print, use a light color if you're using a monochrome or dot-matrix printer.

Microsoft apparently acknowledges that printed highlighting will be darker than displayed highlighting.

Edited by Phil Rabichow on 17-Jan-02 14:58.
Hi Drew:
In Word 2000 (which I don't have in front of me right now), I seem to recall that you can use custom colors, & hence lighten the colors. No such ability exists in Word 97.

When you click the dropdown arrow next to the highlight button, there's something at the bottom of the dialog box that says "More colors..." or something similar.

    Hi Phil,

Just looking at Word 2000 here, I see the 'more colors' option for font color, but not for highlight colors.

A workaround for getting additional highlight colors is to use "Shading" instead.

Thanks, Gary. And they say that memory is the second thing to go.
