    Access (2002)

I've just recently upgraded to Access 2002 from Access 97. When I open a report in design mode or I try to create a new report, I get the following message:

You do not have exclusive access to the database at this time. If you proceed to make changes, you may not be able to save them later.

In some cases I've been able to save the changes, in others I have not. I want to be able to modify/add to this database at any time. What do I need to do? Needless to say, I didn't encounter this problem in 97.

    Thanks,

    Mary Parkhouse

This message is typically displayed when multiple users are currently in the database. Is this a shared application? If so, you must wait until you're the only user before you can make any report modifications.

You would have seen the same behavior in Access 2000. You must have exclusive access to the database to make any design changes, which means you can't make changes like that when someone else is also in the database.
